Virtual PC Reset

Overview:

  • Resetting a remote desktop is the equivalent of pressing the Reset button on a physical PC to force the PC to restart.
  • Any files that are open on the remote desktop will be closed without being saved first.

If a user is having trouble connecting to their program-specific virtual PC (vPC), but is able to connect to the Base vPC without issue, they may be able to try to reset their program-specific desktop.

To reset a desktop from the desktop selection window:

  1. Right-click the desktop you cannot log into
  2. Look for an option to Reset Desktop (under Launch and Logoff)
  3. If the option is available, click it to reset the desktop. Note: Unsaved data may be lost.
  4. If the option is not available, the desktop is not set up to allow users to reset it. Please contact Support.

If a user’s program-specific desktop is unresponsive/frozen, it may need to be reset.

To reset a desktop while logged into the desktop:

  1. In the Options menu bar, look for an option to Reset Desktop (under Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete)
  2. If the option is available, click it to reset the desktop. Note: Unsaved data may be lost
  3. If the option is not available, the desktop is not set up to allow users to reset it. Please contact Support.
